Idly is the most loved South-Indian breakfast recipe of India. It is usualy served with sambar and chutney, mostly coconut chutney. Check out the recipe for soft idly.
Ingredients:
- 1/3 cup rice
- 1 cup Idly rice
- 1/3 cup Flattened rice(Poha)
- 1/3 cup urad dal
- Salt
- 1/4 tsp Cooking soda
- Water
How to make idly batter:
- In a vessel, take rice,idly rice, flattened rice and urad dal and wash twice or thrice.
- Now, soak the mixture in water for 3-4 hours.
- After 3 hours, take a mixer jar, add rice mixture into it.
- Blend it along with water into a smooth batter.
- Fill the batter in a vessel, close it with a lid.
- Let the batter rest for 8-9 hours.
How to make idly:
- Take an idly plate, grease it with oil.
- In idly batter add cooking soda and salt to taste.
- Mix it well and let it rest for a 5 mins.
- Take idly batter and fill into the idly plates.
- Fill idly cooker with some water.
- Place idly plates into the idly cooker and close its lid.
- Cook for 15-17 minutes.
- Idly is ready to serve.
- Serve it with coconut chutney and sambar.
