Phirni is a North Indian delicious sweet dish usually prepared with rice grains and milk. It is mostly served in earthen pots.
Ingredients:
- 3 tbsp Rice
- 500 ml milk
- 1/4 cup Sugar
- 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
- 1/4 tsp Kesar
- Dry fruits/ some more kesar for garnish.
Preparation:
- Soak rice in water for 2 hours.
- Grind rice with 2-3 tsp of water into a coarse mixture.
- Boil 450 ml milk in a kadhai.
- In a bowl take 50 ml milk and add kesar to it. Let it soak till milk comes to boil.
- Add rice mixture into milk. Let it boil for few minutes.
- Add kesar and milk mixture and mix everything well.
- Mixture starts getting thick after a while.
- Add cardamom powder and mix.
- Serve it in earthen pots with chopped dry fruits/ kesar.

Sweet pongal is a sweet dish usually made in South-India. Specially cooked on a festival called Pongal.
Ingredients:
- Pressure cook rice and moong dal with water till 5 whistles.
- Let pressure release completely.
- In a Kadhai heat jaggrey and water together till one string consistency.
- Now, add cooked rice n dal mixture to this.
- Add milk and sugar and cook it for some time.
- In a tempering pan heat ghee.
- Add dry fruits to it. Let them turn golden.
- Add dry fruits and ghee to the rice mixture and mix them well.
- Sweet pongal is ready to serve.

Pongal is a South-Indian dish made with rice, moong dal and milk as main ingredients.
Ingredients:
- Pressure cook rice and moong dal with water till 5 whistles.
- Let pressure release completely.
- In a deep pan heat oil and ghee together.
- Add mustard seeds and let them pop.
- Then add jeera,curry leaves, hing and pepper saute well.
- Add cooked rice and dal mixture to it.
- Add milk to it.
- Now add salt to taste. Mix well.
- Serve with Imli chutney.
