Tomato Rasam | Medley-Of-Flavours
Tomato rasam is one of the authentic recipes of South India. Its origin goes back to 10,000-4000 BC. It's a quick and easy recipe made out of tomatoes in few minutes.
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 3 Tomatoes
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp jeera
- 4-5 curry leaves
- A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
- Few garlic cloves
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- 2 cups of water
- 2 tbsp red chilli powder
- Salt to taste
- Coriander
Method:
- Grind 3 tomatoes in a mixer and keep it aside.
- Heat vegetable oil in a pan, add muster seeds and let it pop.
- Add jeera, curry leaves, asafoetida, turmeric, garlic cloves and saute well.
- Add the tomato puree into the pan and let it boil for few minutes.
- Later add water, salt, chilli powder and mix well.
- Let it boil. Finally add some freshly chopped coriander.
- Serve it in a bowl.
